We are using STAI questionnaires to measure the stress levels in subjects undergoing invasive clinical procedures. I just wanted to know if administering a questionnaire to measure stress levels can induce additional stress on subjects? If yes, how can that be compensated?

There is always the potential for additional stress from questionnaires or any type of measurement, although it is likely to be minor. It will depend on the person. The best way is to have a control group to compare to, who don't undergo the invasive clinical procedures, but do fill out the STAI. This way any increase in stress on the questionnaire can be considered to be induced by the clinical procedures.
