Call for Expert Participation: Delphi Survey on USD Dependency in Emerging Economies

Dear Colleagues,

I am conducting a research study titled "Determinants of USD Dependency in Emerging Economies", focusing on the factors influencing the reliance on the U.S. dollar in developing countries. As part of this study, I am seeking expert input to refine the weights of the components constituting the USD Dependency Index (DI), the dependent variable.

The USD Dependency Index is composed of the following components with their preliminary weights:

• Trade Payments (TP): USD share in trade payments (%), proposed weight: 0.35
• External Debt (ED): USD share in external debt (%), proposed weight: 0.25
• Forex Reserves (FR): USD share in foreign exchange reserves (%), proposed weight: 0.25
• Bank Transactions (BT): USD share in bank transactions (%), proposed weight: 0.15

To ensure the accuracy and robustness of these weights, I am conducting a Delphi survey targeting global experts in economics, international finance, and related fields. Your expertise is invaluable in helping validate and refine these weights.

The survey is designed to be concise and should take approximately ~1minutes to complete. Your responses will remain anonymous and will significantly contribute to the quality of this research.

Who Can Participate: We welcome researchers, academics, and professionals with expertise in economics, international trade, monetary policy, or financial systems, particularly those familiar with emerging economies.

Study Context: The research examines USD dependency across 26 emerging economies (based on the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, 2023), including countries in Asia, Europe & CIS, South America, and the Middle East & Africa. The independent variables include trade tensions, international trade volume, external debt, exchange rate volatility, GDP per capita, trade openness, and governance indicators.
