Could the chert that parallels the hammer be filled the normal fault or is it as a result of ductile deformation as it continuous with the bedding chert?
Cherts: siliceous sedimentary rocks have several origin, they may beings related to the hydrothermal fluid circulation through normal faults responsible for the formation of oceanic ridge midle
silica can result from the precipitation of micro-organisms or upper mantle differentiated.
By regarding the above answers, this question occured for me: If this is the silica precipitated from fluids, why no reaction rims or like this not seen in chert with it surrounding rocks?
