Hello colleagues. I am conducting extensive experiments with different audio interfaces/ boards to make recordings of vibrations from hemipteran insects (treehoppers and leafhoppers), as well as beginning tests with anuran amphibians. I have tested so far the following devices: VIB-E-220 from Polytec, SBX from Sound Blaster and USBPre 2 from Sound Devices. I have also tried Sound Blaster Play! 3, but in this case I was unable to change gain parameters. All the recordings have been made with Raven 1.6 in a Macintosh computer. I would like to hear from you on particular experiences with the interfaces mentioned above (appropriate gain settings, ease of use, drawbacks, etc) as well as any suggestions on other reliable or good cost-benefit devices. Thank you very much.
