Hi, I am trying to simulate biomass gasification using Aspen Plus.
I found in lot of articles published, people use RYield reactor in Aspen plus to simulate the decompostion. I have proximate and ultimate analysis of biomass feed. How do you set-up the Ryield reactor ?
What is the basis? How to specify the component yields in Ryield block?

What are you actually trying to model? The simulation scheme proposed by Alejandro looks very good if you are proposing gasification to equilibrium conditions. Biomass gasification normally produces "Char" as an intermediate you need to decide whether how important it is for you to understand the kinetic path from biomass to Char to equilibrium product and set the level of detail appropriately.

I saw this methodology in the journal papers but when i looked into Aspen plus template for Coal entrained flow gasification, they are giving component yields and there was no information about how to calculate them. So i thought of asking people working in the field for clarification and better understanding.

@Fahima Al Balushi: AGUA is moisture content and FACT is the factor to convert the ultimate analysis (on dry basis) to wet basis for elemental compounds like C, H,S ..etc

: we define biomass as non-conventional component and for this you have to input information about proximate and ultimate analysis (moisture content, C,H,O ..etc). For more detailed information look at getting started with solids modeling in aspen plus help document.
Koteswara Rao Putta after input biomass as non-conventional component, can it be directly input to reactor? or it should be decompose into conventional component? I'm a little bit confuse in here, I'm working on converting dry municipal solid waste (MSW) into electricity using chemical looping (reducer,oxidizer, and cobustor). simply, I want to input MSW into reducer.
Hari: yes, it should be decomposed to conventional components as the aspen plus doesn’t handle non-conventional components.
Kompot Nopsopon It's decomposition of complex biomass molecule into conventional elements. As the ultimate and proximate analysis are based on dry basis, you need to convert them into wet basis for further use in simulation.
