some scholars have been arguing the sequence of research report in social sciences. Some say conclusion should lead recommendations, others say otherwise. My question is -does it matter which sequence is followed?
Yes we have also taught the same, and yes it is correct if we think in the way to first summing up conlude in conclusion and then give the reccomendation.
Having gotten results from a study conducted, some inferences will be drawn, which will initiate what to conclude on. Then, recommendations could be made based on your conclusion, and your inference can also induce you to make recommendation on future related research. Therefore I think recommendation should come after conclusion.
As far as I understand, we make recommendations based on conclusion of the study. To recommend anything, a clear drawn conclusion of the problem/study undertaken should be presented first.
Sometimes recommendations are added within conclusion section. Then you have to put the title as "Conclusion and Recommendations'. Otherwise, I agree with above answers that conclusion is followed by recommendation.
