Are there agreed standards regarding issues such as: offering preliminary assessments within 4 weeks of referral? Number of sessions available? Review sessions at intervals? Follow-up appointments?
Secondary care refers to specialist mental health facilities, such as out-patients of a mental health hospital or under the care of a psychiatrist.

Hi, thanks for that, but I'm not so much looking for best practice in treating specific disorders, but rather for organising treatment systems, if that is the best way of putting it.
Beyond doing the first 8-12 sessions and then assessing whether more sessions are needed, there are no real standards unless you are using a particular manualized treatment that contains it's own assessments. You can certainly implement a checks and balances system, as most agencies do, but there are no hard and fast rules about when to assess during the course of CBT treatment.
