I agree wholeheartedly. I work with students who have neurodiversity, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and ADD or ADHD. All of these students have told me at some point in their education that they were made to feel less than, and that has hurt their self-esteem and confidence. All the students I am currently working with in this program have blossomed once they have seen that they CAN learn and they CAN do the work required at the college level. Giving them the chance to do their work, own their knowledge, and then apply what they have learned is a huge confidence booster, and they continue to improve at learning daily.

I was inspired by my Professors to believe in myself, when I felt I was not good enough and would probably not even complete my undergraduate degree. It took a kind mentor to see me through the completion of my thesis. Prof. Andres Sevilla provided me with insights, guided me every step of the way, gave me a book to base my discussions, and helped me frame my work until its completion.
