Please note that I have tried several open source Modbus libraries created by individuals, but the problem that I am facing involved lack of documentation in addition to having only support to one side of the communication; the client or the server. And you are right, most open source software for Modbus are available in C but I was looking to integrate my Intrusion Detection Solution (IDS) (written in C++) with a C++ version of Modbus. Also, I was able to find C++ version of Modbus, but not for free like this source: http://www.modbusdriver.com/shop/index.php?cPath=38

In the mean time, I will try to use your recommendation and I will try to build an external interface to my code.

It should be possible to link a C library to C++ code. Therefore, you have to wrap the C headers the following way in your C++ code:

extern "C"{ #include "your_C_header.h" }
