Scientist, Academician, Researcher can retire from work at least a week after they death. Because, I am sure, that if they resuscitate after three days as Jesus Christ they restart immediately work.
No certain age is not retirement age for academician, researcher, scientist, it depends on their own strength and stage of their health conditions.

When your local butcher or grocer retires, it’s perfectly clear what this means. They are no longer there in the shop when you next go in. Someone else has taken over, or the shop has changed to another business. If you see them in the street it would be bizarre to ask them about what’s good value this week. Their retirement is unambiguous. They don’t cut up meat or select fruit from the city markets anymore. They go on big trips, play more golf, take things easy.
But when academics retire it’s far from clear what this means. Some things are obvious. They stop taking on the supervision of new postgraduate research students, although often agree to keep assisting those who have not yet graduated. They greatly reduce their teaching, now reserved for guest lectures and making appearances in seminars where a reflective voice of experience is called for.

Faith, the sacred, all have been secularized nowadays. How could human hierarchies (based on much pride) not suffer secularization. If faith and the holy ones have unfairly secularized and constitute an error of humanity, human hierarchy (academic in particular) suffers the same process of degradation as a punishment, I believe. In reality, the age of withdrawal is no longer important, taking into account the degradation process noted above. If we take into account today the enormous output (inflation) in science and technology (it is said that more is written than read), then maybe it is better to withdraw as early in contemplation and prayer ... Jesus has Writing something? However, he is the most read author ... And his teachings are understood by many people ... while Einstein or Newton or others like them ... how many people do they understand?

Officially from Government service as per rule. Or he feels he is not able to contribute or pursue his interest or is not burden on people money. But individual can persue his passion even after retirement. So inherently no retirement age but for those who has some passion and do not sit idle. You see many senior personal in age are active.
