Concretely, I am interested in knowing actual data on the recent evolution and population sizes of African elephant (among other megafauna species). Also, what are the prospects for the conservation of these species and subspecies in view of the increasing sinergies among fragmentation and ecosystem loss, human presence and proximity to habitation and agriculture lands, hunting (both legal and ilegal), and diseases, among other impacting factors. Are these animals truly recovering from the sinking trends of the 1980s?
