In my point of view, one of the good teaching methods is Blended Learning.
Because it is Learner-Centered methods students answer their own questions and solve their own problems. Emphasis is on the application of knowledge and skills this method is ACTIVE.
Why active learning:
Confucius (400 BC):
•What I hear, I forget.
•What I see, I remember.
•What I do, I understand.
Silberman (1996):
•What I hear, I forget.
•What I hear and see, I remember a little.
•What I hear, see, and ask questions about or discuss with someone else, I begin to understand.
•What I hear, see, discuss and do, I acquire knowledge and skill.
•What I teach to another, I master.
Blended learning combines classroom and technological instruction to promote learning. Students are sometimes exposed to web-based and computer-based instruction, as well as instructional multimedia such as videos or educational software.
Tutorials- the weekly lecture was complemented by one-hour weekly tutorials led by a teaching assistant. Online tutorials were designed to complement the lectures and provide additional background materials, example problems, additional problem-solving opportunities, and other activities.
Blogs could be in the form of a group blog for a unit involving teachers and/or students using it to share information and discuss topics. Learning communities can also be loosely connected networks involving many individuals reading and commenting on each other’s blogs around a common theme.
Discussion boards-are similar to blogs in that they often work at the augmentation or modification level. If, for example, the Discussion Board is used for reflection, thinking and analyzing type activities then it can be seen as a modification process.
Web/video conferencing-is similar to live Internet streaming; it is used purely to deliver information live to students off campus then the technology is used at a substitution level.
Mind mapping-If a mind mapping tool is used purely as a substitute for pen and paper then the activity is at the substitution level, however, if students are including links, videos and graphics then this would be considered to be at augmentation level.
As you can see the Quality teaching should be alive, interesting, diverse and dynamic (active).
Best teaching method is one which involves students by incorporating demonstrations, questions, activities that engage the student. Didactic teaching is less effective due to attention span.
