Hi Alisa, no I am a neurosurgeon... I know some neurologists in Denmark, if you would like me to put you in contact with them. How are you doing? Frantz
One of my co-authors, Dr. Michael Hutchinson, is a neurologist who treats MS. He can be reached at 212 889 2500 - you can look him up, he is affiliated with Mt. Sinai.
He is extremely knowledgeable, and would be an excellent interview. He keeps abreast of interventional therapies and diagnostic advances in imaging. I do not know his schedule- but would assume that if you call he will return it, and would be helpful.
(I am trying to keep abreast of the GDNF Phase II trials- the last I heard was that Pfizer was going forward with a multicenter trial - and the results should be out later in 2016. Will let you know if I learn more. From what I see at meetings in NYC, with the PDF - the emphasis currently is on technological enhancement of older therapies- for example DBS-but perhaps positive results for trophic factors will be a 'game -changer.')
I ended up cutting one large article intended for the Scientist into a few small articles for the Neurology Times. The news was not clear-cut and positive enough for the Scientist apparently. I am looking forward to hearing more about the GDNF trials. It would be great to hear about some more dramatic results. Thanks!
Did you perhaps though confuse me with someone at Columbia? I do not have a Phd, and did not suggest that the genetic vectored trial was a better route- as from what I have heard it doesn't actually work as well as pumping the GDNF in continuously.
Thank you either way- but I have an MS in Mathematics, and an Mph in Epidemiology-my work was in data analysis for the NON-genetic vector.
I am working about movement disorders. My co-author Erdem Toğrol,MD is working about MS in İstanbul. If suitable for your I can send his contact information.
