With the expansion of knowledge we are all attempting to categorize each parameter and reduce it to a somewhat measurable item. Pain is one of the most subjective symptoms and a patient's evaluation of pain may show an enormous variability depending on factors we cannot evaluate such as emotional status, past experiences, and much more. Nonetheless, we go on reducing pain into numbers and creating curves and stats based on those numbers. Are we really doing a good job?
