As I am entirely new to pupillometry, I was wondering whether someone could advise me on my study design: I am looking for ways to measure pupil size during silent score reading (notational audiation) and performance ( playing the instrument while reading a score) in pianists. EyeLink1000 with a chinrest could work for the notational audiation condition, but it is obviously an issue for the performance condition. Also, it is unclear whether Tobii T60 eye-tracking system or SMI Wireless eye tracking glasses is a reliable apparatus for pupillometry. Advice will be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
Both should be fine, but you should know that Apple purchased SMI so there's no customer support should you need it if you go with them. Another good option would be Pupil Labs. Although it likely won't make much of a difference, I would use the same eye-tracker for both conditions. Not only does this control for potential differences in pupil recording (in mm vs. pixels which could be calculated differently based on the manufacturer and camera distance), but it will also make exporting and processing the data much easier later since you'll only need one script or software rather than two.
