There are works, either in environmental or clinic, about identification of mixtures of bacteria and fungi with MALDI-ToF?
I did some tentative run with a Shimadzu MS with SARAMIS database with sample mixtures but would like to know how feasible is resolving simple (and not so simple) mixtures and if there are other works or protocols around.
Currently there is not commercial solution for resolving microorganism mixtures with MALDI-ToF MS. However, our team has published a paper (Bioinformatics 2014; 30:1280-6) describing a new method to infer the composition of polymicrobial samples on the basis of a single mass spectrum. You will also find enclosed a poster (ECCMID 2014) on this work including results with positive blood cultures as application model.

Thank yoy Dr Muller, that paper is very interesting as poly-microbial mixtures happens often either in clinic and environmental samples and a commercial instrument is what often is at hand in a lab.
However my question was more general, as I am interested in advances in this sector.
