I am working on a coral reef monitoring project. The aspect I am interested in is assessing bleaching particularly in soft corals. Which kinds of approaches are sensible? Chlorophyll concentration and zooxanthellae density perhaps, or what about colour reference cards for more convenient field use?

Research into soft corals in general seem relatively limited.
