To assist in weed management objectives, I am seeking information on tropical grass re-establishment methodologies and key references that may help a conservation area in Java, Indonesia.
Thankyou for the reference Arideep Mukkherjee. It provides some background information of usefulness to me. However, I still require information about restoring a tropical savanna grassland that is not intended to transition to forest.
There are vast areas of savannah in E Java, Nusa Tenggara, Timor and Aru Islands, but I never seen any reasonable good management methodologies for this part of the world.
Perhaps you have to check how the things are going in Africa, there should be bibliographical resources available.
Thanks Dmitry. I agree that Africa plus my home country of Australia have a number of good methodologies that have been trialled and published as management guides.
I have had trouble with finding Indonesian specific resources and was hoping to have information locally specific to the region to accommodate likely species, pasture compositions, browse animals and other factors.
The indigenous grasses of Eastern Africa have been exported to Australia. Especially the c.ciliaris( fox taii) and guinea grass (panicum). The Tropical Savannah Project of Australia should give best advice as Java is close ecologicaly to Australia.
