I want to assess the impacts of sea level rise in an Indonesian province. In particular, I want to estimate inundated area due to sea level rise between 0 - 2 meters. Is that possible to get free contour maps for this?
The location at 115 degree 46’ - 119 degree 5’ East Longitude and 8 degree 10’ - 9 degree 5’ South Latitude.
Again, I attach a file from http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/SELECTION/inputCoord.asp. Some say that this SRTM data has low resolution, so I can estimate inundated area because of 0-2 metres sea level rise. Is this correct ?.

You are on the right track: all you have to do is use a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and look at the isoline for 1 or 2 m instead of the mean sea level. SRTM is a good choice because it is now free. Just make sure you use the high-resolution version (30 m), which has recently been released for public use, rather than the older 90 m version. See

I'm not familiar with DIVA, but in any GIS (e.g., QGIS, which is free, or ArcGIS), you can simply reclassify the cells at or below you modeled rise to show inundation. Or, if you made contour maps, you can convert them to polygons and classify those as flooded or not based on their lowest contour. This method is simple, but it doesn't account for depressions in the terrain that wouldn't get flooded because they're isolated behind higher land, so keep an eye out for those.
