Many researchers have reported the chromosome number of Galinsoga ciliata as 2n=32. But I find it to be c. 2n=30 (see attached file). Are there centromeric breaks leading to a decrease in the total number of chromosomes? Or is there Robertsonian translocation or others? As you see in the pictures. Thanks and with my best wishes.
@ One has to check both the plants (2n=32 & 2n=30) for their morphological characterization. If they are different, it means these two plants are morphotypes and cytotypes as well.
The reason for the appearance of 2n=30 chromosomes, likely be due to aneuploidy, which may occur due to error in chromosome segregation.
One aneuploid report with n=9 is there in the literature for another species of this genus. Please check page number 11 of the following link:
