Dear Magda,

I'm quite interested in similar questions and the evolution of fungi within certain environmental niches.

Estimations of biomass is quite complicated as the majority of microbes are non-culturable (at least not under lab conditions). Think the closest you will get it is via sequencing techniques and estimation of the microbiome/mycobiome of several niches.
