I'm looking for ethnographic studies on how journalists work and make news. It seems to me that there was a short but very interesting upcoming of ethnographic studies in media and journalism research in the 1970s (see for instance Tuchman 1970), but nowadays, the research focus shifted towards more quantified, broader studies...

Since I'm interested in European politics, I was wondering if there are some recent studies about how journalists or newspaper in general constructe European politics by making news. Sub-questions could be (at least to me): How do they get their information? How do they decide which aspect of European politics do they cover? How important is the topic in the general agenda of a daily newspaper (in comparison to coverage of domestic politics, economy or international affairs)? And how do they decide if an European issue is either relevant for domestic politics, is part of international affairs or an economic issue (especially in an editorial office of an European newspaper)?

Or to put it even more general: what are the conflicts and struggles behind making news about Europe in current media?

Any constructive suggestions and ideas about it are very welcome!

Thanks in advance!
