As you know, recognition is a very broad issue, as it may involve philosophical, social, political, (multi)cultural, juridical, economical, historical, gender, etc., arenas. So, please, could you tell me how are you defining "recognition" in the scope of your research project? According to such a definition, I could suggest you some materials.

I'd try to look at the problem through linking attitudes, identities and behaviours with culturally marked territorial zones, which is omnipresent in archaic Indo-Germanic cultures.
