Congenital infections must be confirmed by sample taken at birth. Are there any accurate method (CMV-IgG/IgM serology, IgG avidity, PCR testing in saliva etc.) to confirm (or at least suspect) congenital cytomegalo virus infection in a suspected asymptomatic child in a situation where blood, saliva or urine had not been tested in the first 2- 3 weeks of their life or no dried blood spots also available.
