For context, I am doing proteomics in beetles and want to use a publicly available 1Kite transcriptome (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sra/?term=txid1661492[Organism:noexp]). The sex of the sample is unknown, which is not ideal for my analysis.

We are curious if there might be a way to figure the sample's sex bioinformatically such as by blasting for a canonical set of genes that are only on the y chromosome. Is there a well-curated gene set like this for a beetle? Tribolium perhaps?

Thanks in advance
