I am trying to calculate the 'A' - spontaneous emission probabilities from the 'Sed' using Judd-Ofelt parameters 'Omega'. Most of the references say that it is the same reduced matrix that was used to calculate the JO parameters. But a perusal of the reduced matrix tables tells otherwise. For example Table V in Walsh et.al, J.Appl. Phys., 83, 2772 ( 1998).
I tried to check if it is the difference between the reduced matrix between the levels for which the transition is considered to take place. But it did not match. Am I missing something?? I would really appreciate any clarification
no, reduced matrix elements are different for absorption and emission spectra because absorption is always take place from ground but in emission spectra, some transitions do not reach ground state. so for such type of transitions, reduced matrix elements are different.
