Are the Ala192/ Arg245 and Ser 192/Gly252 polymorphisms present in the polysaccharide capsules of serotypes 6A and 6B of S.pneumoniae functional?

The following polymorphisms exist between the two serotypes 6A and 6B of Streptococcus pneumoniae: Ala192 and Arg254 are present in 6A isolates, and Ser192 and Gly254 are present in 6B isolates

Are these functional or non-functional – and what are their impacts?
