The mistakes of doctors are in the gravels, while mistakes of lawyers are in the prison. The worst is the mistakes of teachers are found everywhere so they are indirect causes of gravels and prisons. This calls for more motivation for teachers.
In general, the mistakes of the employees of the public sector are more costly than of business, because businessmen risk more of their own than of the wider public. However, the personal responsibility stands more in the private sector, as we all know, than in the public sector. Teachers' mistakes are for the future of all - public and private sector employers and employees, but here You have to look to all sides - not only knowledge formation or acquiring social skills for the pupils, but also to such problem as overloading of the pupils has to be taken into account, as health, and mental health problems especially in overloading structure have to be taken seriously from the side of the teachers.
I agree with Arvydas Guogis , but would add that scientific 'mistakes' can be very costly. For example, the since-debunked article on autism & the MMR vaccine stimulated vaccine resistance which ultimately actually led to deaths.
I think we should be careful not to conflate the parenting mistakes with mistakes of teachers. If for instance, a teacher misrepresents a fact, that is relatively easy to correct. I believe what we see as societal dysfunction such as high crime rates and social ills is largely the result of dysfunctional families and failure in parenting- an unpalatable truth to swallow.
Any type of mistakes or discrepancy at any recognised level in the society I think should not be entertained. Mistakes may be continued up-to a long period generation after generation which is not good for society.
I would say no, because in terms of the examples you give, there is a much smaller and less direct effect, and students have time to self-correct and to get information from other sources. We cannot say that a patient died or an innocent person ended up in prison because the high school teacher didn't do their job well enough.
Dear Dr Bruce Robin Nyamweha , This is a thought provoking and a sensible question. My point of view is that
Teaching is considered as noble profession. - Yes it is. If a doctor/others make mistake they may harm (kill) a person. But if a teachers teaches unethical things, violence, all bad things....he/she not only harms the Child but Generations and generations get affected. Even for the current generation, he may become a violent person and commit crimes harming the society.
I think teaching right things (especially, the kinder-garden, primary- teachers) to the young, unadulterated mind - is important.
They may not be as costly as those of doctors, in the short term perspective. However, they might damage the minds of students and break their trust. This may be on a par with a doctor's mistake.
Well, it make look as though a teacher's mistake is more costly since it will have multiplying effect on the students. Nonetheless, mistake made at any level can have serious effect depending on the gravity.
