Hi, they might not be incompatible but when you are quenching DIBAL-H at 0°C then DMSO will freeze. It will hinder in quenching process and reaction will not lead to completion as quenching is important step in DIBAL-H reduction.
Concur with S. Gupta. I don't know of any literature precedent that precludes use of DIBAL-H w/DMSO. What is the reason for choosing DMSO over THF as a solvent choice?
I have a reaction which runs optimally in dmso but also works in other polar solvents such as acetonitrile and dmf. I want to make the starting material in situ with dibal.
