Are anode and cathode materials prepared for Lithium Ion Batteries compatible with both liquid as well as solid electrolytes? Or it is necessary to prepare anode and cathode materials separately for liquid and solid electrolyte based batteries? I am reading articles on anode/cathode materials and did not found any article in which it is mentioned that the prepared material is specifically for liquid or solid electrolyte batteries? Please recommend me some literature to understand the basic mechanism of Solid Electrolyte Batteries. Thanks
It is not bounded for liquid or solid, but in case of liquid electrolyte binder used fro cathode should be such that it does not react chemically. Binder plays the role in getting a good cathide or anode. In case of solid electroytes we prepare cathode by taking carbon black, cathode material and PVdF as binder and graphite as anode. Then by placing an solid electrolyte filn in between these in coin cell assembely we can characterize for charging and discharging of electrolyte with given cathode material.
As Arya said no need to worry whether liquid electrolyte or solid electrolyte electrode preparation is the same, only difference is that solid electrolytes have low conductivity than the liquid electrolytes.
