I am setting up to bulk seeds from 350 Arabidopsis accessions and I want to grow them in a chamber this time at 10C. My chamber has room for 8 pairs of T8 fluorescent bulbs. We typically use a pair of 'blue', a pair of 'red', a pair of far red, and the rest cool white. The ABRC stock center at Ohio State uses just cool white to provide a PAR level of 120-150. I was hoping some of you might have insights as to what Arabidopsis 'likes'; does enriching the spectrum in reds, blues, and far reds matter? And is there an optimum PAR? My chamber light controls are fully dimmable but dimming is hard on the bulbs and they don't last long so I was thinking of just using a reduced number of bulbs sufficient to reach a good PAR level. Thanks...
