Looking for other researchers carrying out studies in or related to Microbial Desalination Cells for discussion and opportunities for collaborations especially those within China.
Hi David, I am working on MEC and interested about also MDC, presently I am trying to prototyping a MEC for testing with real waste water and considered carbon cloth/fabric as anode.
I am also considering about carbon brass- can you pl advice form where i can collect it which can be used as anode directly with further processing pl? by the by I am working in UK University.
I am not very familiar with carbon brass and it properties, but electrode material choice ought to be conductive and have a large surface area (well, and cheap). So far different forms of carbon (biochar, graphene, graphite) have been used and proved very effective. Apart from sheets, nano-porous and brush structures have proved effective. If your material can be further processed into such, I recommend you do that.
Question wasn't too clear but I hope this is helpful.
Thank you very much for your informative answer, in fact I wanted to use carbon brass anode to study its performance in MEC, but I don't know-from where it can be purchased or it can be made( with some processing/integrating/ following how to make it steps)
Hope I could expressed on this matter and if I get any lights further on it will be enhanced my knowledge on this matter.
Our lab mostly purchase such materials from manufacturing companies (very common in China) to save the stress and for quality. I am sure you can purchase this online from an expert in carbon materials, giving them your specifications (size especially).
