This is for my assignment. I have to make individual interpretation based on 2 instruments (1 IV and 1 DV). We have to find the correlation between these two variables using SPSS but for individual subject. Anyone know how?
I suspect that the answer depends on how you were taught to assess scores on the two measures. For example, are there different profiles that are thought to represent good vs. bad results? BMI could be a case in point. While body mass index does correlate (at a level above zero) with percent of one's mass that is fat, the value can be high for a person who has substantial musculature as opposed to being obese.
If what you are trying to ask is, how do I generate an estimate of a correlation between two measures for a single person, the answer is to measure both variables multiple times (e.g., hourly / daily / weekly / annually using an appropriate interval), then correlate the two sets of time-matched measurements.
