Found in Hudson River Estuary in October, salinity ~10 PSU
Size of individual segments is about 800 - 1000 um.
I'll see what I can do next week - no scat or size 14W prints were found. I think I can also rule out a Yeti and Nessie. We're looking at DNA analysis for Chupacabra.
The long, straight segments look like vascular plant stems, whereas other material looks like decomposing rhizomes. Together, they would be "vascular plant detritus."

the golden brown stuff could be diatoms stuck on a plant fiber, if you crush it and look at higher mag do you see diatom cells? The 4 armed thing in the upper left I believe is fungal, separate from the rest.
as Clifton said, possibly polychaete branchi, or feeding tentacles if there is a groove on one side.
possibly be animal feces, or plant detritus as said by Ernst, and yes blue fibers from human clothes...
possibly a ctenostome bryozoan colony (such as Bowerbankia) in poor condition.
