Hi all,

We know that while solving for dynamics of physical systems, the Lagrangian of the system is modelled as an energy minimizing objective function. I understand that is so because all systems have the tendency to converge to an equilibrium state that possesses the lowest energy state.

However, we also know from the laws of thermodynamics that with all processes, entropy increases.

I was curious to know which is more fundamental - choice of a minimum energy state or choice of a state transision that maximizes entropy ?
