I am wondering what the physical-mechanical properties of Paulowia wood look like. I find rather low values for the mechanics; the species is more often planted in Germany and reports say the wood would be good, especially with the low density. How is the natural durability ? What are the differences across Paulownia species, as they are many? Thanks and regards, Rupert

At the moment I don´t have much information about it but I am working on a project where all of those properties will be determined for Pauwlonias growth in Viseu District-Portugal. I´m not quite sure about the age of the plants but I believe in September there will be already some material to test. I´ll keep you informed!

we had some experience during last 1-2 years with Paulownia wood, and some of my colleagues are working with these material recently as well. Unfortunately most of the data we have is in hungarian, but there is an article summarizing the research in english as well, in the journal Wood Research (see attached).
Beside that, there is some basic data (in hungarian) about combustion heat, ash content and fiber lenght as well if you are interested.
Some of my colleagues are working on the characterization of durability and heat treatment of Paulownia wood as well, but I am not sure they have final data about that.
