I used to cast PLA film using 50ml of DCM and 5g of PLA in petri dish. But i could not find better ways to control their thickness. Is there any solution to make sure the film thickness is uniform across all casted film?
Try a spin casting technique.. In a simple way, you can mount the petri dish in a small speed controllable motor, allow it to spin at different RPM and then drop cast the solution over the spinning petridish... By controlling the RPM, ambient temperature , you might be able to control the thickness of the film..
Another method is that , you can place two parallel surfaces very close to each other separated by a spacer and then feed the polymer solution between the space between two surfaces... Hope it works.. Kindly report yours observations.. all the best..
Another way you can try if you have access to Meyer rod. It has been been know to produce uniform thickness coating when you have a solvent based system. Follow the link,
