Thanks for the response. I am in the process of reading the book. The author speaks about private and public data and about consents. I am specifically looking more on ethics and consents with respect to data in an organizational context. Are you aware of any specific section within the book which addresses these.
Also, pointers to studies which addresses ethics and consent related to communication within organization (eg: email, messenger) would be helpful (need not be netnography).
I guess first you will have to get access to a company network. In Canada, there will be an elaborate ethics approval process by the university to make sure that identity of the participants is not revealed. The participants also need to know that they are being virtually observed. It can not be done anonymously. A message/email has to be sent to the participants explaining the project and seeking their consent.
