In our lab we are working on a small group study where we are observing people's behaviors. Participants played a game in small groups of 3-6 people and their interactions were video recorded. We are now in the process of developing a code book and are looking to find an efficient way of doing it so that we retain rich information as well as making it possible to conduct mixed-method analyses. Any methodological/statistical suggestions for resources would be welcome.
I have two suggestions: 1) Kathy Charmaz (2006) Constructing grounded Theory published by Sage is a great resource to help develop codes. I used it for my dissertation looking at a distributed small group. 2) I have a paper looking at different levels of group interaction (I've attached it here) and I have it in my profile
I agree with Charmaz and would supplement that with Johnny Saldana coding manual. Perhaps reconsider mixed methods for a qualitative study to make you life a little bit easier. Lastly MAXQDA software works great with Charmaz constructivist approach.
