I mixed an epoxy with histidine in sodium carbonate solution. This reaction applied at temperature of 60C for 24 hours. The product of this synthesis was a white viscous liquid. After I analyzed with FTIR, this product reaction had a same spectra with the original epoxy. Based on these spectra, we conclude the epoxy didn't react with histidine. But, the appearance of the sample change from transparent to white viscous liquid. Why the these samples have the same spectra?

Any suggestion for the alternative procedure to react the epoxy with histidine?

Thank you for your help.
