Unfortunately, there is no specific marker for mesenchymal stem cells, which allows to distinguish them from other cells of mesenchymal origin like fibroblasts etc.

In case you are already happy to tell mesenchymal cells from epithelial cells, vimentin should be a good marker. We use it to identify MSC in cocultures with breast cancer and pancreatic cancer cells. If you are looking towards osteogenic differentiation, osteocalcin might also serve you, but not for undifferentiated MSC.

There is a lot of debate as to what markers define "MSCs", since they share many markers and characteristics with pericytes and endothelial cells.

That being said, I just look for CD105/90/73+, CD45/19/HLAII-.

You need define the cell population.

I agree with Karan Sood, the markers can vary if you need to identify osteoblasts, chondrocytes, adipocytes or myocytes. 

I am culturing some mesenchymal stem cells, more specifically, chondrocytes. And I am doing a review for culturing conditions. I find this publication useful for my field.
