I have a chemical system, consists of carbon nanomaterial and organic compound. I design a reaction. My problem is: I'm not sure that there are any reaction or not (!) although the results have somewhat change.
So, my question is: how can I monitor my reaction? (in general, you can think my system as organic chemistry, however, in the future, can I apply those for inorganic chemistry?)
My requirement: plz CHEAP, after that, we can think about usefulness. There are hundreds of real-time characterization such as in situ Raman, UV-vis, NMR, voltammetric, etc. but I cannot order an 2000$ (or 3000$) instrument for only one research. Herein, large error is acceptable.

UV ,NMR ,Raman and Spectromerty are physical characterization techniques.These are very expensive techniques.https://phys.org/news/2016-05-analysis-real.html
Any individual one can not buy them.Therefore,analytical method as real time analysis can be use such a colorimetry, indicator ,idometry and electrophores.These are purely chemical in nature and also cheap.

TLC is probably the cheapest you can find but it only works for simple organic compounds
If you exclude all the instrumental methods of analysis, then TLC works best. Try finding a selective staining method for your compound/product. Most research labs are equipped with a UV/Vis spectrophotometer; however if your lab does not have one try collaborating with a colleague maybe?!! A TLC approach for reaction monitoring is extremely rudimentary.

My lab have an UV-vis spectrophotometer, but, to monitor what happen, we MUST need in situ instrument. Sometimes, they are the one, but, sometimes, they are different.
Remember that, all of equipment were used together, I mean, we share together. And, to monitor (a reaction), we use it for own target, for several hours,days or weeks, very difficult. If you rich, you can buy some UV-vis or Raman spectroscopy for each member, that's so easily. And, in limited money, we have think somewhat useful.
