Any one knows the origin of the plasmon damping constant gamma = e/(m* mu), mu is the carrier mobility, often used for semiconductors?

I have seen this formula gamma = e/(m* mu) used in a number of papers for extracting the carrier mobility from the plasmon damping constant, but no one gave a reference. Sometime it is multiplied by an extra constant. I would like to know the conditions for the validity or applicability of this formula.
