If you use dry pellets, you can add the heavy metal to the mineral part of the diet. We did this in our Cd trial with pigs (Hoogenboom et al 2009)

Dear Joseph, you can find the paper on Carry over of cadmium to pigs from 2015 (sorry for the wrong year) in my profile.
As far as I can remember (the actual trial ran in 2006) the feed manufacturer just mixed the salt in the m and heat pelleted it. When I am back home from holiday, I will check my old files again.

Checking the old file, I was right. We just added the (concentrated) Cd sources to the meal and steam pelleted it to 3.5 or 4 mm pellets.
