Can anyone provide information about oxidation of "but-2-yne-1,4-diol" to "Acetylenedicarboxylic acid" (but-2-ynedioic acid)?
Hi Viktor,
if your are only interested in the product, use the standard procedure for the synthesis of acetylenedicarboxylic acid:
1) bromination of maleic acid
2) dehydrohalogenation of dibromosuccinic acid with KOH
Best regards,
Marcel
Zvarych,
Try CrO3/acetone procedure. See

Good luck
You should take care in handling both the diol and the diacid, they are both serious skin irritants and can cause very bad skin problems with some people. I would just buy it , it is not expensive
Oxidation of 2-butyne 1,4-diol by CrO3 in acid gives but-2-yne dioic acid.
