I have a question related on how to calculate load carrying capacity of journal bearing by using CFD ANSYS FLUENT data. I managed to get the max pressure vs angle of the journal bearing graph. But a bit confuse on how to get the load carrying capacity. As per attached, formula of load carrying capacity. Is it 'P' mean maximum pressure that i get from my simulation? and Ɵ is it angle of the journal bearing? After entering all the value, i just have to integrate the formula and then get the value of load carrying capacity right? And after that based on load carrying capacity value, how i can get coefficient of friction ya? Thanks a lot

If you havent find an answer to your question, let me answer it. You don't need to calculate the fluid film forces using the equation. Fluent results section includes it. When your session ends, go to results tab and click on forces, from there you may see force in x and y directions. In my case I wrote a UDF and integrated the static pressure and the resultant forces in x and y direction were same as those calculated by Fluent.

I am also working on hydrodynamic journal bearing analysis and am new to Ansys. Will you please share with me how to calculate the load-carrying capacity of the JB and also how to get the max pressure vs angle of the journal bearing graph in the analysis.

I also get a result about the force in z direction by Fluent ,I'm not sure if it's carrying capacity,and the force is too small.I hope i can get a reply from you,thank you very much.
