This is a bit of a meta-question. I've developed a piece of software to help researchers with data management and analysis. The software is at a point now where I am looking for more beta testers.
Is there a good thread on Research Gate or other forums where it is appropriate to announce the software?
Ofcourse, you can use thread or Q/A feature on Researchgate to announce and call for beta testers. I believe, Researchgate isn't the best for such and other social -academic/software forum and also GitHub forum groups and sites are available. Even on this thread and on LinkedIn, and stackexchange
You may use GitHub and share the link on Researchgate. I am sure, You might get some potential Beta testers.
Abiodun Christian Ibiloye, I don't think StackExchange is a good place to share unless they have a specific sub-exchange for that sort of thing. In general they are good at monitoring their forums and keeping them strictly Q+A, removing any advertisements and non-related discussions.
Did you have something in particular for LinkedIn, or just to post something about it to my network?
On ResearchGate, would it be better to use a Discussion or Q/A? Perhaps a Q/A asking for beta testers? I'm not so familiar with the etiquette here, so don't want to post something spammy.
I have started a new discussion announcing the software, if anybody is interested in testing it, please contact me, I would love to work with other researchers as closely as possible to make the software as useful as possible.
