For my project, i have to analyse a rc beam-column joint strengthened with FRP. As i am new to it ,kindly suggest suitable software package and also some study material or tutorial from which i can learn the effective modelling and analysis skills.
There are plenty of commercial softwares available which can analyse RC beam-column joint strengthened with FRP/CFRP/etc. If you want to know about suitable software package - it's dubious to answer. This is because, suitability of the software depends on the availability of the software as well. If your institute can offer you any software you want - that would be the most luckiest case. On the contrary, if you want to use the non-licensed software - I wouldn't rather comment about it. But I can tell you that - you can do this numerical simulation on ANSYS, DIANA FEA, ABAQUS, SAP 2000, etc. I would recommend DIANA FEA.
To develop effective modeling skills, I reckon do not run for the "Software Tutorial" first, rather gain basic knowledge about Finite Element Analysis (if you have time). If you think, you have basic FEA idea, then decide your software and read the manual files as much as possible. Nonetheless, I want to add a caveat - don't jump into complex modelling initially with all tools. Start with the very easy and simple one, even 1D problem.
