The reviewers often demand that the chapters should include introduction, research gap, methodology , findings, discussions and conclusions (a journal article format). If one submit a chapter that focuses on introduction/background then specific topics addressed and concluding, the reviews often request for the methodology used for data collection of the chapter.
Thatayone - it depends on the discipline. What you describe sounds more like a book of 'seperate' chapters - a sort of collection of studies. Most academic books do not tend to present each chapter according to journal headings - so the 'secret' with them is that you are working with the editors to vision the scope and assist in contributing a chapter/s that contribute to the whole of the text for logical flow and cohesiveness of the specific topic etc.
Thank you for your question. Not clear from your question if the book chapter is for a research book like those published by Springer, or a non-research academic book or a textbook. You should contact the editor of the book and ask for the template of the book, that each author of a chapter should follow. That is usually the standards. It also helps the editors in doing their job, rather than end with sections that have no standard subtitles or following a specific template.
The decisions about most edited collections are made by the editor(s), so you should show them your outline/plan or ask them questions. Before doing that, you can also see if they've published similar books before, if there are more general conventions in their field, and so on.
