Professor Ashokkumar V. Rajani is correct in the assessment that biochar is largely Nitrogen deficient. The combination of urea with biochar would be useful in a semi arid or arid alkaline soil environment. The biochar immobilizes much of ammonification loss and the conversion to plant acid secretion which the nitrogen is absorped will help meditate the issues of excess alkalinity. Ammonia and Urea is the cheapest Nitrogen resources but do have issues related to acid infertile soils.
